The Importance of Body Awareness

The Importance of Body Awareness

As you grow older, it is important to build body awareness and understand what your body needs and doesn't need.

Over the years, what you used to eat in excess, you may not feel great eating now. Our body reacts to foods and drinks differently at different periods of time in our life.

Listen to your body, let it guide you how you should be eating and drinking. Don't just follow the crowd. Your body knows what will keep it in tip top condition better than anyone else around you.

I don't believe in telling people eat this and don't eat that. Your body is unique to you. You may be able to tolerate more bread than another or dairy, but that doesn't mean it is good/bad for another. Think about yourself.

The same can be said for your fitness regime. Yes, it is important to exercise a minimum of 3 times a week, but what exercises you do depends on your body. Do you need to lose weight? If, so what exercises can your joints take on? What size dumbbells is best for you to start training with? How fast can you go with cardio workouts etc. It's not a standard answer for everyone. So awareness will help you in choosing the best form of exercise that you can gain results from and be safe in doing so.

Your aim in life is to live a healthy, energetic lifestyle, so you can remain productive at all times and have the energy to enjoy life. When your body is healthy and feeling good, you get the most out of life and it's great for mind, body and spirit.

So what does your body need right now? Are you feeling tired? What was the last thing you ate? Did you get enough sleep? Are you taking on too much work that is leaving you stressed?
All these factors play a part. When you become more body aware, you will gain the clarity to manage this and will know what is the cause and therefore, will be able to make the necessary changes that need to be made.

Remember, your health matters and becoming more body aware is vital. Value you and give yourself the best out of life and don't hinder it by being ignorant to what your body needs from you.

Build that relationship with your body and understand it to gain the health benefits needed  so you can take preventative measures, instead of reacting to illnesses that could have been avoided, had you become more body aware.

Start today and reap the benefits of a sustained healthy life. Your health is in your hands.
